if you posted a black screen but didn’t sign the petitions, didn’t look for protests in your area, didn’t educate yourself, and are doing this because other people are, you’re just as bad as the oppressor. black lives matter is NOT a trend for you to jump on.
these lil cutesy, colorful, easily digestible infographics that have been circulating social media don’t make me feel some typa way. so down for the spreading of information (!!!), but I feel like it’s just a way for people (non black) to check a little box
if you are not black, you couldn’t possibly understand the grief, fear and anger of black people right now. don’t condem folks expressing their outrage. don’t tweet “what you would do” if it were you. because it’s not you. it never has been you. you don’t know. #BlackLivesMatter
performative activism is not real activism. tweeting a hashtag/copy pasta and putting blm in your bio/dn is not the same as calling reps, supporting black businesses, and actively educating/speaking up against racist friends/family. carry this energy to your real life too pls
romanticize ur life bitch!!! act like every car ride u take with ur friends is the last scene of a coming of age movie!! make ur coffee in the morning like its the last time u will ever do it! fall fully in love with strangers! just do it who cares!!!!
