Our athletes have been making the equals sign with their arms in Paris to urge the UK Government to act now to ensure that by LA 2028, no disabled child is left on the sidelines of school sport or PE.

This is what the Olympic spirit is all about.

Kevin Piette was a young French tennis player 11 years ago when a motorcycle accident left him a paraplegic.

Instead of giving up the sport he loved, he returned to tennis as a Paralympian and became an exoskeleton ‘pilot’ for a company developing a robotic walking device.

He was one of the exoskeleton's first testers, has contributed to its improvement, and participated in ‘cybathlons’, which are competitions where people with disabilities use assistive technologies to carry out everyday activities.

He carried the Olympic Torch on Tuesday to inspire all people to get involved in sport, and in doing so made history: he is the first athlete to carry the torch while using an exoskeleton.
