RIVERS OVERFLOW IN KARURA FOREST
Due to the ongoing heavy rainfalls, rivers flowing through Karura forest have burst their banks. As a result, paths leading to the caves, waterfalls, bridges and Ruaka picnic site have been closed off. No member of the public is allowed to get into that area, until further notice. The public is advised to exercise caution and report to the Foresters office for any concerns.
Kenya’s Treasury has approved the construction of the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway, a Sh200 billion project by CRBC, NSSF, and Shandong Hi-Speed.
The 175km road will link Nairobi and Nakuru.
The High Court found KCB and its Nandi Hills Branch Manager liable for breaching their fiduciary duty to the estate of the late Nathaniel Kibitok Sieley by negligently allowing KES 24M to be withdrawn using a forged Grant:
— In Jan 2013, a man posing as Sieley’s son filed a fake succession case in Nakuru, falsely claiming he was dead.
— Sieley died in Mar 2013, leaving KES 24M at KCB Nandi Hills; the fraudster used a forged grant to withdraw the funds in Feb 2019 and close the account.
— The real family, who obtained a valid Eldoret grant in 2018, uncovered the fraud after requesting bank statements.
— Justice John Wananda ruled KCB acted recklessly, failing to verify the payee or documentation before releasing the money.
— The Court found no proof the funds ever left the bank (no records, recipient details, or acknowledgment.)
— KCB and its manager were ordered to repay KES 24M plus interest from 14 Feb 2019 and cover the family’s legal costs.
