Public Defenders need parity of resources with District Attorneys to fight mass incarceration & to promote public safety. It's time to fund the 6th amendment right to counsel. Give our communities a fighting chance. #FundPublicDefense #EndMasIncarceration

[Brendon Woods @BrendonWoodsPD]

If 50 attorneys were added to our office tomorrow, the District Attorney’s budget would still be $24 MILLION more than ours. $24 million! This imbalance in funding occurs throughout the nation & it fuels mass incarceration. #FundPublicDefense #EndMassIncarceration #Parity

Non-profits are never going to solve any societal problem. They are bandaids attempting to stop the bleeding on a very large wound caused by capitalism. They're important for mitigating the effects, but not the solution to the suffering. The solution only comes from organizing.

In conclusion, unionize every job on earth.

[Housing 4 All is Hot @ahouse4all]

There is also something to be said about how the grind of non-profit work kills the revolutionary/activist spirit by draining your time + energy. If you're doing eviction defense work all day the chances you have the energy to go to a tenants union meeting and organize is low.

[Housing 4 All is Hot @ahouse4all]

Non-profits are often just as exploitative if not more so than a normal job because they know the people attracted to work there care. So you won't get paid fairly because you do good work, you need to work overtime because someone's got to do the good work, etc.

I feel like y’all still ain’t truly accepting that folks are exhausted from living and grieving thru a pandemic for the last few years. Will you take in this knowledge and act accordingly? Stop pushing folks and yourself so much. Truly slow down when you can.
