No, the original poster is completely wrong. You never shoot to wound, you don't pull a gun unless deadly force is required. When someone is coming at you while you have a gun pointed at them, they obviously intend to kill you, why else would they come at you when you have agun?

That said, aiming a little lower to incapacitate the first attacker might have ended the threat without lethal force on the others.

Hindsight is 20/20 in a split-second life-or-death situation.
Self-defense isn’t pretty, but deadly force should be the last resort.
