In Song of Songs a young woman who is unhappy and overworked by her family meets a man who she thinks is a poor shepherd who tells her he will marry her when he returns from a long trip.
While he is gone her brothers begin mocking her that he fooled her and he will never return.
When he returns she learns he is a king and he sweeps her away to their life together.
We were unhappy and dead in our sin before we met a shepherd who died for us, rose again, and then promised to return for us, his bride.
While He has been gone we are mocked as fools for waiting for him
When he returns it will be as a King.
Let He who has ears to hear, hear.
