Max Aarons is supposedly one of the leagues best right backs. Linked to established Premier League sides. Anass Zaroury has made him look Vanarama level. Zaroury is a very, very special player.

We looked tired last night. The big performances from the Swansea game were just not there. Vitinho, Rodriguez, Cork, Tella, Zaroury all on the periphery of a game where Birmingham played well and pressed us better than most. Not all negative. An away point. Unbeaten in thirteen.

Burnley gave Swansea the first ten minutes to play their version of pass pass pass and then Burnley were like, nah that's enough, bored now, this is how you pass a ball about. Cut to 4-0.

We may not go up, it's a complicated, intense season. But still haven't seen a side close to being better than us. Swansea are no bad side and we made them look mid-table League One. What a fantastic afternoon. It's going to be some ride, this season.

Broken record time, but still find it astonishing he's been completely ignored by England for so long

He just took the total piss, this fella. Best player I've seen play for Burnley, and by some distance. Different wavelength, different planet. Sure, injuries. But if he hadn't have had them he'd have been at a Champions League side and not at Burnley.

Deepdale. Always feels a bit 2004 somehow. Flags, the friggin drum. Half expected Bertie and Deepdale Duck to be put through their paces by some squaddies. Was relieved Fuller was nowhere to be seen. Shudder. Speaking of which, Ghohere would be fun to watch in this Burnley side.

Cruel really that we were deprived of a goal, the winner, in the second half last night. Right in front of all those Clarets. Limbs, scenes etc etc.

No idea if Benson is good or not.

Cork is immense at this level. Been the best midfielder on the pitch in most games so far.

Play went through the wide areas too often, and with a hesitancy to cross. Next to nothing through the middle.

Need to turn possession into goals.

Don't know how to feel about that game. On one hand - Preston are a rank bad side, with next to no quality, and the chasm between the two teams was fairly obvious. On the other hand - they got a point. Down to us to do enough to beat a weaker side, and we didn't do nearly enough.

Points like last night are a huge part of a successful season in the Championship. It's a slog. A tad galling the equaliser came so late but to pick up draws when not at your best, and away from home, is an excellent habit to have. And still had to chances to put it to bed.

Will be interesting to see how Kompany rotates the midfield in coming weeks. There doesn't seem to be a natural replacement for Cork and Cullen. Brownhill can do it but not as well, and it'd dilute his dynamism going forward. Bastien possibly. Westwood of course but if and when.

Finally we are seeing competition for places. Benson changed the game against Millwall and Churlinov impressed last night albeit making some iffy final decisions. With so many options, we can expect subs to make an impact, sizzling cameos and players proving a point. Finally.

Connor Roberts. Was last night the best he's played? Absolutely not. But some criticism this season seems to stem from not recognising he's playing a different position. He isn't a conventional right back, or a wing back. Tucks to make a back three, sometimes a midfield three.
