Tahajjud Competition with My Mother-in-Law ❤️

When I found out I was pregnant, I secretly prayed for a boy. I raised my younger sister like my own child—so this time I just wanted to experience the joy of raising a boy.

But my mother-in-law had other plans. She always dreamed of a girl, but never got one.

She smiled and said, “Let’s have a Tahajjud competition. You pray for a boy, I’ll pray for a girl. Let’s see who wins.”

And from there, we both started whispering our prayers at the end of the night.

First ultrasound… twins!

We both laughed and cried. It was as if Allah was softly saying: There’s no need for a competition. You both won.

A baby girl. A baby boy.

My son was weak and had to stay in the NICU.

But Alhamdulillah, today they are both healthy and turning into three years old—Double our joy, Double the result of our prayers.

If you live through life without the regular nawaafil prayers...

without witr, without dhuha, without reciting even a portion of the Qur’an daily, without morning and evening adhkār…

without seeking knowledge, voluntary fasting, voluntary sadaqah (charity), or any deeds that earns you the love of Allah...

then don’t be surprised if you lose happiness and peace in this life, and don’t be surprised if you stand empty-handed in the akhirah.

Allah rises people through different doors:

One through the gate of fasting, another through salah, another through charity, another through maintaining family ties, and another through striving in Allah’s cause.

The voluntary acts of worship build your rank in this world, in the loneliness of the grave, and in jannah.

Hold firmly to these acts. They are your stored treasures for this world and the hereafter.
