@Roger55Toronto@SmallerFishGAA No issue with you putting out the idea that he gave Dublin the benefit of some big calls, the idea that he did so because he lives in Dublin is ludicrous. It’s a normal part of Irish life, that’s where most of the economic resources are!
@antob83 Definitely, there is a sweet spot that is difficult to find in which business can be accommodated while residents rights are protected but increasingly Europe is spending an enormous amount of energy on one side of this equation. Can’t speak to this specific case
One thing that Chinese people understand is that if you don’t want Google, Amazon etc. ruling your economy, you’re going to have to make it easier for your own firms to succeed.
Obviously don’t know anything about the specific planning process but one just can’t help feel that Europe is just going to red tape itself to extinction.
Breaking: Manna to cease drone delivery flights in Ireland, blaming planners and regulatory haze.
Will focus abroad (incl US, UK, Europe) instead, it says.
Jobs likely lost but R&D centre will stay in Dublin

But at the same time, it can’t allow itself to continually be run into the ground by former civil servants on healthy pensions who ‘want to keep the noise down’ and say good riddance to everything new.
@bigbagsofcans An Irish business with the opportunity to provide jobs in Ireland ahead of an American or Chinese one would generally be considered a good thing.
@ciicciicciic@mickfox@ianguider Sure, nobody is advocating for a replication of that environment in Ireland. But when China owns these industries entirely in the next few years, the freedoms to dissent will be useless.
@mickfox@ianguider I’m based in Shenzhen, everyone just deals with it here. No choice really but noise is just part of living in a city. There are trade offs required for that level of convenience. I accept that not everyone is willing to accept these trade offs.
@ADMusgrove Where exactly are you getting your ‘full confidence’ from other than blind faith though? The club has been a mess for the last 12 months behind the scenes. There’s nothing to base this confidence on.
What makes sports attractive is that they feel like their own worlds and ecosystems where people can find meaning. There are norms and expectations for how things work, once you start losing that the whole thing becomes meaningless. Adbreaks mid game etc.
This WC will be great once we get to the knockouts but like so many other parts of football, it’s become a victim of its own popularity and the dominance of social media.
Every club will soon become a feeder club for the same big 8 European clubs that have hoovered up all fan support and resources. Massive European clubs like Milan or Dortmund will go the same way.
