So, where was this excellent English spin bowler (Dawson) during England's recent Ashes mauling? Did he have a tropical disease then? Is he teetotal? Does he not like golfing trips?
@JT999000@NoContextCounty Not quite. Higher average for wickets, but his economy rate was still under 3 in Australia - the place he was least effective.
@NoContextCounty This’ll be funny because you’ll get a load of replies about how he was aided by helpful home conditions from the same Reply Guys who, only a month ago, were claiming Joe Root benefitted from “flat decks” in England.
Lovely to see Brendan McCullum picking what is basically the test batting lineup + all of the spinners he should have selected ahead of Will Jacks for the Ashes.

For all its ills the Hundred has at least been able to cling to the guise of trying to grow the game in this country over the last few years. With the introduction of ‘Sunrisers Leeds’, ‘Mumbai Indians London’ and a Manchester Originals logo with an Elephant on it any remnants of that illusion has been well and truly burnt to the ground. Whilst I completely get the fact the new owners will want to grow their global brands this should never have been allowed to happen. This countries governing body has well and truly sold the game up the river. They’ve given one of our supposed biggest rivals largest leagues the keys to the city and destroyed any attempt to ‘connect’ with the local community, I just pray to god the counties an able to sweep up those with a passing interest in the game who are looking for a genuine local connection!
@TUnlimitedd You’ve literally just cited two examples in which there were 4 results in a 5 match series. 2 draws in 10 matches. Pretty clear indication that they’re result pitches, not flat pitches.
@McFlavour7@PaulCol28198765 @ESPNcricinfo What is it then? Is there some shadowy cabal from the ECB that handpicks talent from overseas, completely undetected? At a rate of one player every 6-8 years.
@McFlavour7@PaulCol28198765 @ESPNcricinfo You said “picking the eyes out” of weaker nations, and “cheating”
No part of what you describe is either of those things.
@McFlavour7@PaulCol28198765 @ESPNcricinfo “Picking the eyes out of smaller nations” is baseless fallacy. It’s not like Australian rugby sending scouts to Pacific Islands. It doesn’t work like that. The county cricket structure, the Kolpak ruling/EU labour law and myriad other factors determine this.
@BeauBremner@academy_dinda He’s still averaging 35 with the bat in tests, but yeah I’d like to see him drop down to 7 and have a “proper” batsman at 6.
