Scammers found a way to make people drain their own wallets without sending them a phishing link.

They uploaded YouTube tutorials showing people how to build an AI crypto trading bot with Claude.

People followed the tutorial themselves.

Copied the code.

Deployed the smart contract themselves.

Funded it from their own wallets.

And approved every transaction themselves.

Except the “trading bot” had no trading logic.

It was built to send their ETH straight to the scammers.

224 wallets lost 274.6 ETH, worth about $517,000 when it was stolen.

The median victim lost 1 ETH.

Some victims even got an error after getting drained telling them to deposit another 50% to fix the bot.

They literally got people to build, fund and approve their own wallet drainer.

As reported by @ZachXBT, Revolut exposed personally identifiable information (PII) of some of their customers, because they fell for a fraudulent government request and has been sending out emails to customers since yesterday, saying:

"Exposed data included:
-Copy of passport and/or driver's licence, plus the verification selfie
-Account statements, IBAN, withdrawal records, and full transaction history including Bitcoin
-Full name, date of birth, occupation
-Home address, email, phone number"

But sure, KYC is there for our protection and fighting crime..

⚠️ ALERT: Revolut falls for a FAKE government request, exposing sensitive personal information of customers in a disturbing data breach.

Revolut disclosed that it complied with a fraudulent government request using a spoofed official email and valid credentials, exposing PII belonging to a group of customers.

The leaked data reportedly includes passports/driving licences, verification selfies, names, DOBs, occupations, home addresses, emails, phone numbers, IBANs, account statements and full transaction histories, including Bitcoin activity.

No customer funds were reportedly lost and Revolut says its systems were not hacked.

The company has notified affected users and regulators and blocked the source.

Social-engineering attacks are on the rise, with attackers increasingly exploiting human trust and weak verification processes rather than technical vulnerabilities.
