Before coming into office, the now-PM of The Bahamas said they'd reduce taxes. He said that increasing taxes was indicative of a government having no new ideas and no clue how to create economic growth.
- VAT changed from 12% for some goods/services, with others having no VAT, to 10% across the board. This has increased the price of goods. While the VAT rate was decreased from 12% to 10%, the cost of goods has increased because formerly VAT-free items are now taxable at 10%. While with @ewnewsbahamas, @devontehanna_ reported on this. NIB contributions also just increased at the beginning of this month. Airport fees have also increased. For instance, in Bimini, as of the 1st of July of this year, the average Biminite now pays an additional $51 in airport fees when leaving the island by air.

The PLP committed to enhancing crime-fighting methodologies in its aggressive war against crime.
- At the end of 2022, while crime decreased in the Family Islands and Grand Bahama, crime (for the majority of Bahamians) on New Providence remained unchanged. The overall national murder and armed robbery rate increased. Murders decreased last year, compared to 2022, but as of this year, there's been a marked increase in murders. To date, compared, to last year, the murder rate outpaces last year and is on track to surpass last year's rate.

The PLP promised that it would restore the Bahamian economy and foster an unprecedented level of growth.
- While the economy has rebounded post-COVID, what is unprecedented is that out of 11 Caribbean countries, The Bahamas' economy, still primarily focused on tourism, has the 9th lowest economic growth outlook. Only two countries in the Caribbean have lower outlooks.

Last year, while speaking at the Summit of the Heads of Government of the Association of Caribbean States, the Prime Minister said the Government of The Bahamas was seeking to diversify the economy through targeted investment.
- Since coming into office, and since the comment was made, investment into the tourism industry far outpaces any other industry and there is no sign of diversification happening. Just recently, it was announced that a fourth waterpark was being built in the greater Nassau area.

With respect to islands outside of New Providence, the PLP promised to deliver the critical needs of each island.
- The results of the census revealed that the populations of Abaco, Crooked Island, Grand Bahama, Inagua, Long Cay, Long Island, Mayaguana, Ragged Island, Rum Cay, and San Salvador all decreased. Remarkably, New Providence's population increased by ~20%. Islands like Grand Bahama, Eleuthera, Long Island, and Mayaguana do not have adequate airport facilities (the creation of a new airport on higher ground for Grand Bahama was explicitly promised). Grand Bahama still does not have a fully functioning hospital (another explicit promise). Other family islands remain without adequate medical facilities. Long Island's premier tourism event (free diving competition) has been cancelled this year as organizers cited that the island can no longer sustain the level of visitors that it attracts with poor roads, poor medical facilities, frequent power outages (which is an issue on other islands like Andros, Eleuthera and others) and a dray load of other issues. Most of the islands remain without banking services. There are also issues with residents on some family islands having regular water services. Their critical needs haven't been met and aren't being met.

The PLP said it would revamp Bahamasair's domestic route network to promote linkages to increase tourism connectivity from LPIA to the Family Islands.
- Family island connectivity remains a challenge and, where existing, very pricey.

The PLP promised to create a new economic model for culture and the orange economy (creative industry) in The Bahamas.
- The government has yet to leverage the benefits of tourism by creating a unit to focus on attracting visitors interested in culturally immersive experiences. The Bahamas has yet to attract and host major international events and festivals like Carifesta. No National Recording Studio and National Performance Arts Center have been established and the establishment of a tertiary School of Visual, Performing and Recording Arts to "widen the base of trained cultural practitioners in The Bahamas while serving as a fruitful site of creative cross-pollination" has not happened.

There was a promise to strengthen legislation that established the Sovereign Wealth Fund to receive royalties for all of The Bahamas' natural resources and spur strategic development and long-term growth for the benefit of generations of Bahamians.
- While the National Investment Fund was established to replace the Sovereign Wealth Fund in 2022 to advance the blue, green and orange economies of The Bahamas, neither the blue, green, or orange economies have been advanced. There's been little talk of it since 2022.

I could go on, but, in short, by your own words (and metric), I suppose this government, like governments before it, is most disappointing having promised its people and not delivered.
