A hugely exciting day for new British musical theatre with #BEAM2025 day two about to begin AND @TCCOBBmusical releasing their cast recording. Both showing how important British musical theatre is to the wider industry and how brilliant and diverse it can be
And final (bonus) mention has to be @divamusicaluk, I have never seen a performance quite like @lukebayer’s in a theatre. It is an acting masterclass and I was left in awe throughout. Will be lucky to see a character performance to rival it over the next year.
Ready to go home after a weekend of 27 #edfringe shows, I thought I’d share my top 6
@FloandJoan’s One Man Musical, absolute must see, funny, fantastic and five stars.
Dylan Mulvaney: F*ghag, a really great musical about her journey which she performs brilliantly!
@WhoDoYaLove_ a really fun hour of great songs with a slightly deeper story than I had been expecting from disco tunes!
@MySonsAQueer if you haven’t seen this shows yet this is your sign to. Rob pours their heart out on stage and the show is worth every penny.
@TLBTmusical, @SkysEdgeMusical and @TCCOBBmusical were the best things I saw at a theatre last year. With one being available online soon it is only right for the good news to continue with a well-deserved transfer! British musical theatre is a force to be reckoned with!
The wait is over. The award-winning musical, #BenjaminButtonMusical transfers to London’s West End. ⏳

And whilst I’m here. what a joy it is to have @SkysEdgeMusical, @TLBTmusical and @mincemeatlive sharing the West End at the moment, even for such a brief moment. British musical theatre has landed where it should be and it begs the question, has it ever been better?
After almost 11 months (too long a wait) I was lucky enough to catch @SkysEdgeMusical for a second time. The most outstandingly beautiful and heartbreaking musical that has ever been written.
It feels so different to what musical theatre ‘should be’ and the current offering in London and Britain at the moment. This is solely down to the outstanding cast, band, production and creative teams who have made magic with theatre. A triumph for British musical theatre.
Tonight was my eighth trip to @TLBTmusical and I cannot stress the importance and brilliance of this show enough. The usual fantastic performance from everyone but I felt like I was hearing One To Seventeen for the first time again tonight, crafted beautifully by @bexbowden .
I just hope that the rest of the West End are watching, this show feels like an important moment in British musical theatre history. I have tears in my eyes when Andrew Fraser says ‘momentum is shifting’; I really hope he’s right.
Fourth visit to @TLBTmusical this evening and I’m still left speechless after watching it again. It’s a beautiful musical told so well by a brilliant cast (including the superb @GeorgeSalmon1 and @JWolff_Actor who brought so much to Henry Fraser tonight). I can’t wait to go back!
Then a trip to @KingsHeadThtr to catch @GusGowland's Lifeboats. A glimpse at a tender and celebratory song cycle, with Gus' songs full of rich melodies songs by an outstanding cast. A great intimate space for it as well, would recommend to anyone in London over the next few days!
I can't really put into words what I thought of @TCCOBBmusical . I was blown away. The talent on display from the cast is perhaps the best I've ever seen on stage, paired with a beautiful story and music. Hopefully only a matter of time until it transfers!
The two hour journey to Oxford for #BEAM2023 starts now! Cannot wait for an amazing couple of days, hearing a range of new British musical theatre 🤩#BeAtBEAM
Great trip to see @GusGowland's new British musical, Mayflies, in York. Gus must be one of the best current musical theatre songwriters in the UK, with such moving and powerful songs! If you haven't heard 'Running on Empty' it is well worth a listen on all streaming platforms!
I really hope it has another life in the near future, seeing @NunoFQueimado as part of the Q&A last night has made me even more eager to see their version of May. If you happen to be in York before it closes on Saturday go and see it, you won't regret it!
The show feels like it has been approached with so much care, allowing for the love and moments of laughter to really hit home. @rumi_sutton's May was captivating throughout and the way in which @EmmaThornett's Fly brought a reality and warmth to the piece was truly moving.
