For the last year @slamco_ has been running a free coworking space for people pursuing their passions
Two weeks ago we shut everything down.
Now we’re starting over 🏃♂️
3 years ago I was a student at berkeley
and instead of getting a tech internship like my friends
I decided to spend the summer making stuff with my best friend.
That decision changed my life.
every morning i sit down at my desk and ask myself the same question
"do i build or do i share?"
"do i build or make another tiktok?"
building is always easier. there's always something new to make.
but sharing is hard. it means putting yourself out there to be judged.
i recently started posting a youtube video every day, and it's helped a lot.
it stopped me from asking "should i share this?"
and forced me to ask "what should i share?"
my grandma watches my youtube videos every day
last week she told me “no one else is watching. you should make something more interesting”
she’s right. i’m a founder who’s sunk over a million dollars into this company posting daily vlogs that get a few hundred views
i made a video about why, and why ever founder should be making content
This is Shani (@sha_zng).
She makes more money painting at tech events than she does at her tech job.
We had a conversation about how artists can make a living from their creative work.
My friend Jason dropped out of college and invested his life savings into starting a clothing brand
But his first big drop didn’t go as planned
He didn’t sell as many pants as he wanted to, he’s kinda in a rut
I made a video about this feeling
Today was a pretty unproductive day
I spent most of my time writing and staring out the window
A younger version of me would’ve felt really guilty about not being productive
But now I know it’s some of the most important work I can do
