@OSUItalianFilm I believe it is an anti mafia martyr film as it clearly portrays the mafia as the enemy, and Placido as the protagonist. Whereas other films like The Godfather almost try to make the mafia look like the good guys.

@OSUItalianFilm I believe many different things make this a mafia movie. As leak writes, it is the indirect evidence of mafiosi in the film that shows the mafia working. Sicily’s harsh landscape and village only mentality presents the idea that the mafia is present there.

@OSUItalianFilm I enjoyed the no audio because it leaves things more up in the air. Whereas, a normal film lays things out for you. I like how it lets the viewer interpret things for themselves.
