In Korea, reporters are stationed at major polling locations during elections. They photograph celebrities and prominent politicians as a way of encouraging voter participation and raising awareness about the importance of voting.
On election day, public figures are usually careful to wear neutral colors such as black or white to avoid being associated with any particular political party. Jin chose gray this time. It was a thoughtful choice and showed good judgment. Reporters also seemed impressed by his choice.
Voting is regarded as a symbol of civic responsibility. When photos of celebrities casting their ballots are published, the message is not simply about the celebrity themselves. It serves as a reminder that if even busy public figures are taking the time to vote, ordinary citizens should also make time to participate rather than treating the day as just a holiday. In that sense, these photos are intended to encourage the public to exercise their right to vote.
That's also why Election Day is held on a Wednesday. If voting were scheduled on a Friday or Monday, many people would turn it into a long weekend and go on trips instead. I need to go cast my vote too. 😆
