Just want to add that disabled folks at most get the equivalent of about $4.85 an hour from SSI - a maximum of $841 a month to figure out how to live off of. While Medicare is on the table this doesn't cover eye exams or dental. If lucky you can get ~$150 from SNAP for $991

AI as a tool has a lot of promise but even aside from the actual theft, under capitalism a profusion of bland copies that are cheap to produce will inevitably end up being favoured by artistically regressive profit notions and deteriorate our media environment further

while the main problem is definitely in the stealing of work for AI to function, the fear of our jobs becoming increasingly moot is entirely real and reasonable. automation threatens many folks already and this feels like another level of potential pervasiveness

i don't think u guys are getting it. the main issue with AI is not "you could've commissioned an artist to do this," it's "the AI is trained to steal from actual artists' work and recreate it with zero credit or payment whatsoever so that a random app dev can make money"
