Today I was exploring how we get notified over email from GitHub or secret key provider if any key pushed on GitHub accidentally.
• GitHub scans the full repo and git history on every push
• If a secret is found → what happens depends on whether the API provider has joined GitHub's Secret Scanning Program
• Provider NOT in the program → developer gets email + Security tab alert
• Provider is in the program → GitHub notifies the provider directly. No Security tab alert is shown to the developer. The provider takes immediate action — revokes the key and emails the developer.
