The broken chains beside the Statue of Liberty’s feet pay homage to the recently-freed slaves’ freedom from bondage. With the statue’s conception and construction so close on the heels of the Civil War, it served as a powerful symbol. But look closely and you’ll see something often unnoticed—her toes.
For Lady Liberty, her second toe is longer than her big toe, a physical attribute known as “Greek feet.” This was a landmark of beauty found in many Ancient Greek statues. It is symbolically included here as a nod to the origin of democracy.

My message to LGBTQ+ Americans: No one should fear loving who they love.
We will continue to stand up for the LGBTQ+ community. And we will fight with pride.
@StormTeam4NY Whoever is responsible for blondie content here- I lover it!

I’m VERY excited to show you the back cover of Speak Now (my version) including the vault tracks and collaborations with Hayley Williams from @paramore and @falloutboy. Since Speak Now was all about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists who I feel influenced me most powerfully as a lyricist at that time and ask them to sing on the album. They’re so cool and generous for agreeing to support my version of Speak Now. I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing up, now) and can’t wait to unveil it all to you on July 7th. https://t.co/NoneI6kxdH
