is that her being the paragon of hope meant that the only way she could excel as commander was to mirror the ‘hope’ of humanity and exact total annihilation— adopting their methods and literally shifting futurum into a more violent and cannibalistic culture

for as much as sirei is a receptacle made to bear humanitys ‘hope’ and ‘will’ vehxness embodies futurums ‘despair’… which is why i can never fully lean into calling her a ‘Villain’ because she only exists because of the actions of humanity… i think the tragedy of her character

will win them the war. in a lot of ways her and sirei are similar since they are looking at the bigger picture despite their own feelings and in v’ehxness’s case she was put in a position of leadership since she was six and expected to represent her entire planet’s hope

if you see v’ehxness using her final breath to take out the aggressor that has been killing her people and razing her planet, dragging out this war for decades and decide that she is irredeemably evil and is only in it for power you should do me a favor and replay the game again

this whole discussion is completely reductive and missing the major theme of all living things’ desire to live and the lengths they will go to, but v’ehxness in particular is motivated by the wellbeing of all futurans and makes choices and sacrifices based on what she believes

@gieyugamu she’s a very cohesive character ^^ i don’t want it to seem like i think she’s some sort of evil powerhungry dictator more so she plays into people’s perception of her as one because she considers it unimportant to the end goal of saving the planet kind of the opposite of takumi

okay it hurts a little that most people seem to only want to talk about nozomi's disability when they're fetishizing it

v’ehxness and eva being raised in the same area where the academy stands which is also called “land of the royal tomb” adds a lot of political implications to her being named supreme commander and paragon of hope at such a young age and why she’s been allowed to stay in power

@helloeito that’s really interesting i always assumed he was the oracle they mention who gives the commanders their paragon titles since he’s familiar with their traditions and seems like he knows them personally. i think it depends on if you believe the two cursed cycles are connected
