This is why we have so much work to do in the African diaspora fighting against obstacles to the gospel in our contexts. Idk how to even think about this! Why is this even a thought and a debate? #urbanapologetics
This past season has taught me that I should have pursued an MBA simultaneously while getting my MDiv. I did not realize how much the church is a corporation.
...I have gone back and forth about feeling regret about speaking up for what I believe is right, but on this weekend, when we remember and celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr...
Man, what's going on in the greater Los Angeles area is intense. The images are telling the story as it unfolds. It also reminds me that riches and wealth do not exclude you from disaster. #PrayingForLA
@_jeremiahj@drantbradley ...I am sorry you and your family feel mocked. Praise God for the gift of life that you have received through IVF. Like all things, too much or too far can always lead to unethical behaviors, but there are ethical ways to do IVF. Praise the Lord for it!
@_jeremiahj@drantbradley@_jeremiahj, I am a huge @drantbradley fan. I have probably read most of his stuff and still, to this day, look to see what he is saying about ethics, ethnicity, Black Reformed theology, and so much more. With that, I think you are right on this...

@wendelltalks When doing Biblical exegesis, deep deep Bible studies, and/or writing a sermon: NASB (w/ my Hebrew and/or Greek text)
When preaching and for congregational reading and Bible studies: NIV
For personal devotions & reading: NLT
Though this conversation has centered around mental health, psychology, and the sufficiency of Scripture, I'm realizing there are far bigger issues at play here.

“Loyalty to the senior pastor” is not a good requirement for church positions. It can be a way of hiring people who will cover for you when you do bad things or fail to do good ones.
In my experience, it can actually be bad when such loyalty means that the senior pastor is above rebuke and above genuine and practical accountability.
Have people in ministry who not only are willing to confront fellow leaders (including the senior pastor) but who are counted on to do so.
It’s obvious that a person who is loyal to God will treat the senior pastor in ways that are godly, gracious, and as supportive as is appropriate. But those who make loyalty to a man into a chief virtue lead to the abuse of the congregation and no safety net for pastors who go off the deep end.
Hey, you, pastor out there who works hard to serve God and your people, thank you.
Thank you for not quitting even though you thought about it many times.
Thank you for not turning your ministry into a self-protection racket.
Thank you for refusing to preach on giving for the sake of raising your salary.
Thank you for refusing to proclaim, with any authority, less or more than what Scripture says.
Thank you for weeping with those who weep.
Thank you for not seeing people with greater gifts than yours as a threat but as someone to support and raise up.
Thank you for remembering that your ministry is God's grace to you and not your gift to others.
Your treasure is in heaven. Now, press on.
