Status of education in Gaza:
- Gaza had 813 schools that employed about 22,000 teachers. Now, more than 80 percent of the city's schools have been destroyed, including all of its 12 universities.
- More than 320 school buildings have been used as shelters for displaced Gazans.
- The UN estimates that 625,000 students are in the territory. Some of them continue studying with help from volunteer teachers or parents who home-school their children in shelters and tents.
- At least 5,479 students, 261 teachers and 95 university professors have been killed.
