@mattzollerseitz Editors and directors sometimes tried to expand on the form, and I wasn't sure at the time if this scene would inspire new directions, but ultimately it did not. There were a few slo mo shots in episodes preceding, but this technique turned out to be a stand-alone.

@mattzollerseitz I was also thinking of Kirsten Dunst's character, who ceases to be a bystander and takes action. Earlier montage images in the film made me think of real life photojournalist Kevin Carter, and the trauma and ethics of being a witness.
