1) Asking for 400k as the minimum wage is basically a negotiation tactic, I have the feeling, the NLC have a smaller figure in mind say 100-150k, but you don’t start negotiations by laying out your end figure, you work your way there.

Here’re the details and the truth...

So, on the 28th February, 2024, VP Shettima, on behalf of Tinubu, inaugurated the new National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

While inaugurating them, he said “the government took time to carefully select men of integrity with administrative acumen and records of selfless dedication to manage the affairs of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria in the interest of Nigerian pilgrims.”

Now, those words of praise from Shettima already cast doubt on the New NAHCON board members.

Don’t take my word for it…the following events will prove it…

NAHCON opened the application shortly after their inauguration. Of all the requirements for the application, Nigerians who’re interested in applying, were eagerly waiting to hear about the application fee. And finally, when it dropped, it was unexpectedly outrageous - each pilgrim was to pay a whopping sum of N4.5 million!

My sister-in-law is an intelligent girl. She scored 284 on her first JAMB, but couldn't get into Unilag to study medicine. The next year, she scored 320, but still no admission into Unilag (I can't explain it). I couldn't just sit back and watch her talent go to waste.

So, I got her to take the SAT exam. She prepped for only two weeks and scored 1450. We started applying for scholarships in the US, and she got two fully funded scholarships and one partial one. Last week, she went for her visa interview. In a few months, she’ll be heading to the United States.

1. I am still confused that she couldn't get into Unilag. Something is definitely wrong with our system.
2. I am happy she is going to somewhere she can truly shine and explore her full potential.
3. It's a shame we keep losing our brightest minds.
4. To be successful, you need opportunity, information and access.

Something I think is really fucked about Nigeria is how you could be working in a company or firm most people aspire to and still have to think really hard about the money to afford a nice date cause a nice date could cost half your salary. And I’m talking like $150
