Survived the whole day in a million degrees heat for that shite pile of a game? I could've been asleep 3 hours ago like it's Tuesday I have work in the morning? Waste of time 🙄🙄🙄
The 9-5 is the most expensive way to be poor in the UK.
You commute, you pay tax, you pay rent, you eat overpriced lunches, you buy clothes for the office, you exhaust yourself enough each day that you spend the evening recovering instead of building anything.
By the end of every month, your bank balance hasn't moved, your skills haven't grown, and you've sold five days of your one life to keep the deal going.
The system is excellent at convincing you this is the responsible adult choice.
We actually need a 4 day, 32 hour work week with livable wages. There is no reason people should be working this much. People need time off to rest and spend time with family and friends.
“People don’t want to work” has always been a weird argument.
Offer $350K a year to flip burgers and watch how fast applications start pouring in.
The problem isn’t work.
It’s pay.
Being single right now is financially brutal. Everything is designed for two incomes:
Split rent.
Split bills.
Split pressure.
But if you’re on your own?
You’re paying full price for everything
on one income that hasn’t kept up with anything.
Bills have doubled
Rent has doubled
Food prices constantly go up
And people will just tell you to "budget better" Budget what? There's nothing left 2 weeks after payday.
The UK has normalised working full time but still being broke. You do everything right, show up, work hard, work overtime, try to budget better and still end up with no money left 2 weeks after payday. The system is broken and everybody is just accepting it as normal life now.
The UK has normalised being broke while working full time. You do everything right, show up, work hard, stay consisten and still end up with no money left 2 weeks after payday.
You're not struggling to save money because you buy coffee, have subscriptions and actually spend some of your money on something other than bills.
Rent prices have doubled, food shops have tripled and wages have hardly moved.
We're living in a fully developed country where full time hard working people are struggling to survive. Something really needs to change.
you don’t work 40 hours a week. don’t forget the copious hours preparing for work, driving to work, being at work, driving back from work, recovering from work, and going to bed early for the next workday. you only get paid for 40 hours
Being single isn't the issue, the cost of existing alone is. One income, full rent, full bills, full responsibility, no backup. Then you get told to "budget better" by people who've never had to carry 100% of the load on their own. The system didn't break, it just stopped accounting for anyone doing it solo.
It's NOT you. The standard of living is collapsing.
People are working harder than ever and falling faster than ever.
Groceries doubled. Rent doubled. Safety vanished.
And the people in charge keep saying everything is fine.
