it’s the fact that in the span of about five years, i’ve largely gone from actively seeking out open fandom spaces (i.e. twt) to actively avoiding them in most cases because the discourse and unhinged behaviour is so often so toxic that it ruins the thing entirely.
there's something fundamentally sad about "too polished" writing setting off alarm bells now. almost like how you want to see some imperfections in a handmade piece of pottery that you wouldn't get from a machine-made mug or bowl: proof that human hands have touched it.
AI is so popular because it gives uncreative people the illusion that they are creative. It lets them skip right to the part where they get validation. It’s not only parasitic, but extremely narcissistic.
