@USACFC_ Lessons learned from the CWC, the weather on the east coast is way too volatile in June. Games in Charlotte were being abandoned in the 85’ due to lightning striking near the stadium.
@HobbyAlmighty I don’t think we do a thing against Portugal. Their attack does look disjointed (not just a Ronaldo problem, more of a balance/overall quality issue) but we’re built to dominate in counter pressing and their midfield is brilliant at beating that very thing.
@Seanrips99@Eyesandvibes That’s crazy. Germany had Joachim Löw for three cycles before their win in 2014. France are likely to go deep again with Deschamps. If the coach does well then they should be allowed to stay (altho that said he’ll probably get hired by a top club after this).
@QuietKid611@FOXSports@USMNT FIFA changed its rules to have head to heads be the primary tiebreaker. Since we’ve beaten both of them and Türkiye is eliminated, we have won the group.
@GMCSouthLondon@PeteFiutak Yea, the offense actually has the more stringent false start rule. Defense can move freely on their side of the line. The offense has to more or less stay perfectly still unless they’re in the backfield and even then (there are caveats like motioning but that’s called by the QB).
@GMCSouthLondon@PeteFiutak Different rule. Offside in American football applies to the defense and it means a defender jumped over the line of scrimmage early. Funny enough, the play is allowed to go on and if the offense gets positive yards they can “decline” the penalty and keep the yards.
@bastfps@usmntonly Our women are a case of US Soccer being the literal first organization to care about investing a bit in women’s development. Now that the other European and South American orgs are investing we’re seeing the gap we once had close.
@waleedinhoafc Because it gives smaller nations a platform to play in some type of tournament. Same reason why UEFA runs a tiered competition system for clubs.
@kingalejoo@EdgarFl55509209@patohechem See I’d agree with this for the outdoor matches, but most of the matches in the US are going to be played indoors
@MoniKay9295@AlbertanKelly FIFA thing but made with US summers in mind. They’re not totally necessary tho because most of the stadiums chosen in the US are indoors.
@EVE4ever_ It’s also correct to say that there’s a lot of first and second generation children of immigrants who still cheer for the country their parents or grandparents are from in addition to the USMNT, it’s just a weird American thing🤷♂️
@KGrahamContent Per the rules: diving outside the box earns you a yellow, while diving inside the box earns you a red. They’re trying new methods to enforce it this tournament so fingers crossed.
