@danielkleach The developer who ships 100% hacks is worse. The over-engineer train of thought is easier to follow later and simplify and optimize and refactor. The hacks go wild and you can't even read the "specs" from them, so then you have to start truly over, or worse, it ends the project.

Only thing that seems to shield is a high, way higher than current average professionalism - you get a place with that culture, then its a banger. But traditional professionalism is dying I guess due to weaning T.

@theRWMillennial @Jonathan_Blow Not to be a party pooper but I work in industry with 95% male workforce and having almost all males doesn't necessarily shield a team from dysfunctionality stemming from low general integrity, lack of leadership, lack of work ethic mentality. So many fucked up, lazy ass dudes...

Tennis players who aren't good enough and might benefit are teetering on thin sponsorship deals as is. Unless you've a established showmanship or bad boy image already, you won't be doing alienating stuff.

@EuroDale I prefer my own nationality as my ethnicity as there aren't that many subethnicities so its a pretty accurate identification. I haven't got any sense to why "European" would be better here? To me its just worse, in my mind European is synonymous with bureucracy, idiocy, laziness.

@damian_b I am not unhappy with the way it writes things and thats why I keep working with LLM however it does not really give me a speed advantage, it just gives me a cowriter, someone who can spot things I can't, and often requires my alertness and agency in return so I can progress well

@damian_b My pet peeve is that even if I directly say what I want and instruct to ONLY give what I discuss and want the AI is never, ever able to cowrite and drop its defensivity. It goes full assumptions and delivers a boatload of shit and just makes up things for me to delete right away.

@JohnDCook ... which is kind of a niche of working on products that aren't really known to be of any specific shape before fully building them. I am sure there are very well, rigid specced projects that you can skip all this with, but it hasn't been the case in the stuff I have worked on.

@JohnDCook I guess if you really want you can make a bit of custom shaped things in the code, as long as you can bear abandoning them away the second specs change or any sort of pivot takes place. I optimize for accommodating for changes as trivially and comfortably as possible...
