I always thought a better heuristic was:

Roughly millions of trillions, potentially billions of trillions of molecular events have to go properly to arrive at a functioning reproductive system. Something like 10 billion cell divisions have to go right.

Because of environmental conditions, this process follows 1 of 2 potential pathways, A and B. If conditions are signaling for A, it not only builds A, it actively suppresses and kills what could lead to B. Some instances of the suppression of B are actually crucial to achieving A.

Our bodies do this extremely complex thing with >99% success.

We can abstract from A and B in all this and say male and female instead. You might not like it, you might want to deconstruct it, but it’s allowed. sorry!

It doesn’t mean intelligent design or that our bodies “know” what they are doing. But the idea that we are like totally epistemically untethered from what our bodies are doing, what it means for our lives & its significance, and how to process when it goes wrong, is downright ignorant. It’s yet another example of pretend not to understand anything > discourse impossible.

But it's highly likely that the guys who you say are reacting "irrationally and emotionally" aren't reacting to those women - they're reacting to different ones, so it's important to actually not get your wires crossed and identify who is engaging with whom
