@rightwing_pov Modi government has supported the growth of UPI by footing the subsidy, but the credit for vision and conceptualisation actually goes to Dr Manmohan Singh. I remember VISA and MasterCard tried their best to put international pressure to stop launch of RuPay but MMS did not budge

@rightwing_pov Adding to this, NPCI was formed under the leadership of Mammohan Singh to bring all payment switches like NFS, NACH, etc under a single umbrella and also to challenge VISA and MasterCard's duopoly by introducing RuPay network. RuPay charges the least fee to Indian merchants.
