Abhay Mokashi fearlessly published reports showing that the daughter of the then CM of Maharashtra had her postgraduate gynaecology exam grade changed from fail to pass.

His reporting exposed the scandal, which led to the resignation of the Governor (who was also the Chancellor of state universities) and the Vice Chancellor of Bombay University.

The CM resigned after the Bombay HC made strong remarks against him for fraud in the MD examinations to benefit his daughter and her friend.

He showed what real journalism can do. It has real power to shake a politician and bring them down in a single day.

This incident happened in 1986. Abhay Mokashi passed away on 2 May 2026.
