Good morning sir,
I hope this reaches you well.
I'm reaching out because of yet another kidnapping at FUTO (Federal University of Technology, Owerri) this time on Sunday the 6th of September 2026, around 5pm, at the back gate axis leading to the TETFund and NDDC hostels.
A parent was shot dead trying to protect his children, and two young women were abducted: Spencer Jennifer Adaeze, a 300-level Optometry student, and Chioma Lilian Igwegbe, a Biology graduate. Both are still in captivity as of this message.
This has been independently reported by multiple outlets and acknowledged by NOSA (Nigerian Optometric Students' Association) and FUTO SUG.
Sir, this is not an isolated event. FUTO has recorded repeated abductions this year from campus shuttle buses, even from within the school premises itself, with ransom regularly paid just to bring them home. Each time, there's a statement, a "search and rescue operation," a promise of "reinforced patrols" and then the cycle repeats.
I'm attaching voice notes I have that speak to what happened.
Please i worry for my colleague’s safety so i do NOT know if it is safe to air any part of the recordings that touches on the ransom amount, the negotiation timeline, or direct communication with the abductors.
Our girls are still in captivity, and anything said publicly about the negotiation could put their lives at greater risk.
This deserves the national spotlight you're known for giving these issues not just for these two young women, but for the students who will be at risk again next semester if nothing changes.
Please help us bring Chioma and Spencer back home sir😭😭🙏🏽
