🚨 Update on Slashing Incident 🚨

tl;dr – SSV is NOT compromised, you don’t need to take any action!

- Earlier today, several validators were slashed.
- One incident involved @ankr validators: https://t.co/rJBJqsR9og
- After reviewing logs and speaking directly with Ankr, they confirmed that maintenance on their end caused the slashing.
- A second incident involved a 7-operator cluster. That validator had migrated from Allnodes about two months ago.
- We suspect a secondary validator setup triggered the slashing and are continuing to investigate.
- We looked at logs from both incidents and found NOTHING that indicates double signing or failure on SSV side
- A full post-mortem will be published soon on the SSV Twitter.

@ssv_network just launched a new client called Anchor.
This client makes it easier to adopt Distributed Validator Technology (DVT) by allowing validator keys to be split and managed across multiple nodes.

If you’re not familiar with DVT or are curious about how it works, I wrote a quick overview to help explain what Anchor is and why it matters.

Anchor is an open-source client written in Rust. It implements the DVT protocol developed by the SSV Network and was built by Sigma Prime, a respected team in the Ethereum ecosystem known for their work on validator infrastructure and protocol security.

In a typical setup, a validator node holds its private key and signs blocks on its own. Anchor changes that by splitting the validator key into multiple parts, with each piece held by a different co-validator node. A signature can only be generated when a predefined number of these nodes cooperate. This method is called M-of-N threshold signing and is a core part of how DVT works in SSV.

This architecture improves fault tolerance and reduces the risk of slashing. Even if one node goes offline or is compromised, the validator can continue functioning safely. It also promotes client diversity, which helps Ethereum remain decentralized and resilient.

A major benefit of Anchor is that it doesn’t require running a full SSV node. Anchor is designed to work independently, making it much more accessible for smaller operators and newcomers who want to participate in DVT-based staking.

To sum up, Anchor is a lightweight DVT client developed by Sigma Prime to bring the SSV Network’s vision of decentralized validator infrastructure to life. It plays a key role in enhancing the security, decentralization, and robustness of Ethereum staking.
