The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will begin its third season with a Fellowship of the Ring-style prologue, designed to explain the series' status quo to new or lapsed viewers. https://t.co/SvnIKlHlgZ
@FellowshipFans@empiremagazine Not sure I love the idea. I'll miss them. I don't care if they weren't consequential during the Silmarillion - the fact they're pre-hobbits is nostalgic and they were portrayed truly interestingly. I guess audiences don't value them enough.
Uefa is ready to boycott the World Cup as the Fifa backlash intensifies against Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell the tournament to private investors.
Senior figures in the game say “we have to act fast” to torpedo Infantino’s £15bn plan, which Uefa says is trading the game’s “soul”.

If you knew FIFA you would know that selling even a 20% stake is equivalent to selling football
It means corporate investors (the Trump family) will control World Cup
Which means dynamic pricing/$10,000 tickets become the norm
Sweating the assert every way possible
👋 to ordinary fans
USA hosting every World Cup (no more European/African/Sth American World Cups)
Biennial World Cups, 64 teams, player welfare minimised
Even more money to FIFA members with unaudited accounts
The worst kind of capitalism
And obviously they ‘can’ do that
The question is whether they ‘should’?
And whether 21st century capitalism has any moral moorings whatsoever?
'Of all Gianni Infantino’s delusions, perhaps the most dangerous is that he regards himself as a head of state.
'Hawking a slice of the World Cup, for all its flaws the most cherished competition in sport, should be the cue for outright rebellion. Uefa should have the courage of its convictions and issue a warning to secede. For what would the event be, ultimately, without Europe?'
@oliverbrown_tel says, in Infantino's warped realm, too much is never enough 👇

@FIFAcom has become a true criminal, and publicly.
There's no shame in the world anymore. Evildoers are no longer hiding because there's no one out there to stop them.

Here is the problem with this logic:
It doesn't account for trading in your old device to Apple for people who buy outright.
> buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max for $1,199
> 12 months later, trade it in for $695
> buy the new iPhone 17 Pro Max for $1,199
It costs you $504/year to own the newest iPhone outright.
If you upgrade every 2 years, it costs you $730.
Either way, you save money over leasing from Apple.
@raywongy This is actually nice conversation to have. Before Apple Upgrade, here in Mx you could already "lease" your phone as a rewards program from banks. Now that is an official O&O program I'm interested to see if the lease would come with tax benefits. A man can dream.

I’m very disappointed that Emily Wilson falls into the trap so many fans of a written work fall into: judging the adaptation for what they wish it were rather than for what it is. At no point does she try to understand the intentions of Nolan, she’s just frustrated that she didn’t get the adaptation she had imagined.
"if you're not ready to adapt to a different car, then you're not at a good enough level" my brother in christ they made a whole new suspension for you because YOU couldn't hack it
🚨🚨| NEW: Journalist Florian Plettenberg has accused Fabrizio Romano of jumping the gun on Yan Diomande transfer in “his attempt to be first”.
He says, a total agreement has not been reached with RB Leipzig but Fabrizio wanted to be first based on probability so he just posted the “here we go.”
He added, if it was truly a “here we go” why didn’t Fabrizio drop the real fee agreed upon instead of a vague “over €100M” reporting.
@yippeeosc I agree. It's been years since we've seen the way Norris drives, and it's average at best. Everything is provided for him on a silver platter while other better drivers 🇦🇺 perform greatly more consistently but face many other challenges. Insane and unfortunate if you ask me.
this bum bottled the lead, was running wide at every corner, couldn’t get past his teammate even though he was supposedly faster, yet somehow everything goes his fucking way i’m so sick of this sport.
