@yimregister can’t look the way you thought it did/would before your loss. Let yourself mourn that, too, and give yourself time to feel out a new normal. Also had to let myself give credence to the moments when finishing felt impossible. Quitting can be an act of love, too. Sending ❤️.
@yimregister myself from the academic environment. I could handle the fast-paced superfocus on grants and publishing and ambition. I had to admit to myself that if the phd is going to get done, it’s going to have to be on my terms. There’s also a unique grief in realizing that your life now
Museum folks! I'm excited to say that I'm joining the editorial team at @MuseumAnthJrnl as Book Reviews Editor! There are loads of amazing museum-related publications that deserve a spotlight, so be in touch if you've got ideas!

Honorable mention: that more than one interview has concluded with a big sigh and "that felt like a therapy session". Safe to say I'm thoroughly enjoying this part of things.
Two things I've been delighted by as data collection for the diss continues.
1. That almost every interview has opened with or been punctuated by that "look". That "do I have a story for YOU," look 👀.
2. Introducing my cat to new pet friends via Zoom.
I've been feeling very disappointed in my alma mater lately, but of course, the brilliant students are here to remind that there's some amazing work being done that's so much more important than any uni president's "letter to the community"... Congrats, and solidarity!
I'm still thinking about a syllabus for a creative ethnographic writing workshop. I would love recs for some experimental, genre-challenging stuff! Not concerned about subject/topic, but work related to environment/land/climate/place would be ideal! #anthrotwitter
