Hot and muggy conditions continue into Independence Day weekend with increasing chances for showers and storms. Daily chances for rain may bring some relief to the heat, although some places could still see heat indexes near 100ยฐF. When thunder roars, move indoors! #kywx
Rainbows may be possible in Eastern #KYwx this evening as the sun sets and storms taper off. If you saw one, show it off in the replies below! Quieter weather is expected behind tonight's cold front, but storms (potentially strong/severe) return to the forecast by midweek.

The sun is setting on a rather wet and stormy day here in Eastern #KYwx. We hope all our communities are safe this evening.
We are looking for any reports of storm damage or flooding from earlier today though! If you saw anything or saw posts online, please send them our way!
Honestly, being a woman in STEM is hard! There will always be people doubting your qualifications or speaking over you. I've had men ask to speak to a "real meteorologist" even though I have a master's degree in the field.
The best way to fix this culture is to be open about it!
The issue is not just rude moments, it is a pattern. Women in the field, weather, STEM, storm chasing, photography aren asking for much just to be treated as equals and peer, standing right there and doing otherwise sends a clear message about who you think matters.
There are plenty of highly skilled and talented storm chasers of both sexes. This community is better when people actually recognize that. Acknowledge everyone, include everyone, and act like they belong.
Because they do.
