CPJ is grateful for the journalists and media leaders who stood together earlier today for a moment of silence and solidarity with journalists in Gaza at #ijf24@journalismfest
The Hostwriter team and our friends at @AreWeEurope are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our friend Milivoje Pantovic, an accomplished journalist and father. 💔 RIP

Together with @guardian@SZ@we_are_solomon, @unbiasthenews brings you the work of a team of journalists who traveled to the borders to count the graves of the unnamed dead, the #BorderGraves investigation https://t.co/QKge1jCI6V
I've just invoked Art.99 of the UN Charter - for the 1st time in my tenure as Secretary-General.
Facing a severe risk of collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza, I urge the Council to help avert a humanitarian catastrophe & appeal for a humanitarian ceasefire to be declared.
In reporting on Gaza we are seeing a trope that has also been used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Empathy for women and children, silence for men. This erasure implies that Muslim men cannot be civilians, and harms human rights for all, writes @anmolirfan22

What happens when minority-world news outlets work only on subjects and with people they know, without making any effort to acquaint themselves with the unfamiliar?
My piece for @socialeurope.

36 journalists were killed in four weeks in Israel/Palestine - comparing to 68 killed during last year.
One of the reasons for this death rate - most of Israeli attacks in Gaza are indiscriminate, hitting media houses, hospitals, universities, bakeries, even fishing boats.
We can't forget our #ENDSARS story. It pushed us and punished us. It tempted us and taunted us. This year, as we remember those we lost, I want us to remember the protest for what it gave us.
It's not much. But we must never forget.
@p4olam0sso @EngnRoom So what's next: we're looking for a co-ED to join Paola in this journey. Are you interested? Know someone who might be? Please read and share widely: https://t.co/zzuKbAp5ML
Journalists are supposed to be the experts at explaining conflict and tragedy to the public. However, in certain aspects, the failure to report on the recent events in Israel and Gaza with sensitivity has contributed to amplifying misunderstanding. 🧵, w/ resources to do better⬇️
"Their stories are meant to help break the illusion of gradual, natural change and uncloak what is happening to coastal cities for what it is: a deep social, cultural and political phenomenon, that is inextricably linked with actions humans take now." @tinaleeinberlin of @unbiasthenews #NISLIS
So proud of the team for their delivery on The Sinking Cities Project, earning the Climate Journalism Award 2023 in the category Emerging Talent by @ejc at the #NISLIS yesterday!
