This past Friday we got to go down to @Baylor and talk at @baylorsigmachi’s Derby Days for cancer awareness @CommonGrounds! We loved getting to see so many of Shawn’s friends at the event while sharing the importance of prevention and early detection of skin cancer. 🖤
Loving these guys repping Helms Hope on their flag football jerseys!!

Thank you for keeping Shawn’s memory alive with his #2 jersey. We appreciate each of you more than you know. Thank you for your support of the foundation and, most of all, your friendship with Shawn.
Last week we went to the Melanoma Action Coalition’s annual fall conference. It was a wonderful time of networking and learning with others who are all working towards the common goal of ending melanoma deaths in America! Special thanks to @polkadotmamainc for the invite!
Thank you to the Marit Peterson Melanoma Research Fund and the Peterson family for being so kind and letting us tell our story at the annual golf tournament this year. Much love for your family and thank you for fighting melanoma!
E is for evolution.
Key changes to look for are in color, shape, and size. Any change is something to watch for. So check yourself. Keep and 👀on even the healthy spots!!
D is for diameter.
Nonmalignant (normal) spots will be smaller than 1/4 inch. The same size of a pencil eraser✏️! so get out that ruler or pencil eraser and start checking your skin!!
C is for color.
A normal spot will usually be a shade of brown or black. A color change is never a good sign (get it checked by a 👨⚕️!) The colors can vary from red, brown, tan, and black. If it is multicolored, it should also be looked at by a doctor!
A is for Asymmetry.
Check to see that your spots have similar looking sides. Most melanomas are asymmetrical. If you draw a line through the middle of the lesion and the two halves don’t match, call a doctor and get it checked!
Relearning our 🔤’s. An easy way everyone can check their skin at home! Look for 1️⃣ or more of these 5 identifiers of a spot that could potentially be melanoma. If any of your spots match at least 1 of these, go get… https://t.co/Ii6eWlorhz
Thank you Rockwall Today for sharing Shawn’s story. The Helms Hope Foundation has a goal to help others not have his story - but find melanoma early and stop it. Help us help others by getting you and your family… https://t.co/QLRRD40GFD
