Important Message from Former Prime Minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail - 22 July 2025

“Never in the history of Pakistan has any political leader been subjected to the treatment that I am currently enduring. Nawaz Sharif committed corruption worth billions and was nevertheless granted every possible comfort in prison. In contrast, never before has the innocent and apolitical spouse of a political figure been imprisoned under such inhumane conditions as those imposed upon Bushra Bibi.

I am enduring the harshest prison term in the country’s history solely for the supremacy of the Constitution and in service of my nation. The level of oppression and authoritarianism is such that even the water I have for ablution is filthy and contaminated with dirt, unfit for any human being. Books sent to me by my family have been withheld for months. Access to television and newspapers has also been suspended. I have spent countless hours re-reading the same old books, but now even those are no longer available.

All my basic human rights have been violated. Even the minimum facilities accorded to ordinary prisoners under the law and the jail manual are denied to me. Despite repeated requests, I have not been allowed to speak to my children. Political meetings have also been restricted; I am only permitted to meet certain ‘choice individuals’, while all other interactions are barred.

I am waging a battle against a 78-year-old system, and my greatest success is that despite unprecedented oppression, the public stands firmly with me.

On February 8th (2024), the people expressed their trust in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by voting for you even in the absence of an electoral symbol. After such a clear mandate, it is the moral and political responsibility of every party member to become the voice of the people. It will be nothing short of disgraceful and condemnable if PTI leaders waste time on internal conflicts at this critical juncture. Anyone found engaging in factionalism within the party will be expelled. I am fighting for the future of our generations, and every sacrifice I make is for that cause. To create rifts within the party at this time would be a direct betrayal of my mission and vision.

The so-called government formed through Form 47 has crippled the judiciary through the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The way biased judges are now delivering blatantly unjust verdicts under these courts is visible to the entire nation. We must launch a robust campaign to liberate the judiciary, for no nation can survive, let alone progress, without judicial independence.”

Minister Shakoor was reportedly leaving the MPA Hostel for a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House when the men stopped him and took him away.

The reported abduction happened in broad daylight, in front of the Corps Commander House.

سابق وزیرِ اعظم عمران خان کی بہن کو حکومتِ پنجاب کی جانب سے گرفتار کرکے 3 ایم پی او کے تحت تیس روز کے لیے جیل بھیجنا انتہائی افسوسناک اور قابلِ مذمت اقدام ہے۔ یہ طرزِ عمل نہ صرف سیاسی اختلافِ رائے کو دبانے کی کوشش ہے بلکہ اس نام نہاد حکومت کی بڑھتی ہوئی بوکھلاہٹ اور عوامی پرامن سیاسی جدوجہد سے خوف کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔

فارم 47 کے ذریعے مسلط کی گئی یہ رجیم عوام کے آئینی، جمہوری اور پرامن احتجاج سے اس قدر خوفزدہ ہے کہ سیاسی کارکنوں اور مخالف آوازوں کو دبانے کے لیے گرفتاریوں اور ریاستی طاقت کا سہارا لیا جا رہا ہے۔ لیکن جبر، گرفتاریوں اور اوچھے ہتھکنڈوں سے عوام کے سیاسی شعور اور حقِ اظہار کو ختم نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔

27 ستمبر کا پرامن احتجاج عوام کی پرامن سیاسی جدوجہد کا حصہ ہے۔ اسے سوائے عمران خان کے کوئی نہیں روک سکتا۔ پرامن سیاسی جدوجہد کو سبوتاژ کرنے کی یہ کوشش کبھی کامیاب نہیں ہوگی، کیونکہ عوام اپنے آئینی، جمہوری اور بنیادی حقوق کے لیے جدوجہد کا حق رکھتے ہیں۔

حکومتِ پنجاب کے اس غیر آئینی، غیر انسانی اور قابلِ مذمت اقدام کی شدید مذمت کرتا ہوں۔ یہ اقدام اس امر کا ایک اور ثبوت ہے کہ فارم 47 کے ذریعے مسلط کیا گیا نظام عوامی حمایت اور پرامن سیاسی جدوجہد کے سامنے خود کو غیر محفوظ سمجھتا ہے۔ ایسے ہتھکنڈے عوام کے عزم کو کمزور نہیں بلکہ مزید مضبوط کریں گے، اور پرامن جمہوری جدوجہد اس جبر، ظلم اور ناانصافی کے خاتمے تک جاری رہے گی۔
