The AI slopocalypse on YouTube is getting completely out of hand.

A month ago we released a video about Orca behavior, packaged around the intriguing fact that orcas don't attack humans in the wild, despite being such effective killers.

Our animator hand drew the thumbnail. The copycats copy and paste with AI and outperform us.

The truth is, the copycats don't usually outperform us (the slop strategy has a difficult time building a loyal audience), but with AI scripts/thumbnails/footage/voiceovers, they're able to upload many times more per month than we are, and every once in a while they get a viral hit.

With our commitment to not using AI in our ocean documentaries, and fact checking real science, we've only been uploading ~once per month (currently expanding the team to increase to x2 per month)

Long term, I truly believe in real human-made videos, and am 100% convinced we'll win the loyal audience over time. But so far, competing with AI slop has become almost impossible.
