There's a part of me that's genuinely scared that future Barca fans won't feel the same gratitude for Messi that we do.

With the way things are going, I worry that he'll eventually become just another name in the club's history for a generation that never got to experience him. And honestly, that thought hurts me.

Maybe that's just what time does.

Thankfully, I'll probably have stopped associating myself with football by then, so I won't have to watch it happen and let it affect me.

I just hope that, whatever happens, future Barca fans are kind to Messi's legacy.

He gave that club more than any of them could ever understand.
