@soeuncoups It's not even a matter of affording the licensing. The show is based on the books, and the books used fake team names, only loosely inspired by the real teams. Even though the books refer to the NHL, RR was clear that her teams are fictional.

@transshollander I still don't get what your argument is though. Shane may be a better captain due to all those things, but it's irrelevant when he moves to Ottawa because the team is not going to suddenly replace Ilya while they're on a good performance streak. And Shane wouldn't want to.

@CamOTBx @connorstarchive I don't think that is quite accurate about Ilya... Ilya's thoughts on Russia are mentioned a couple of times in TLG. Particularly when he is talking to Galina, he contemplates the possibility of returning to Russia while outed as bisexual.
