I am simply begging librarians/archivists/info ppl to consider that whatever resource list you're putting together might already exist and that the reproductive justice orgs that made them understand accessibility and surveillance culture already. Just give abortion funds money.

Every year at my tenure review, I am asked why I am not a member of major national professional orgs, and this is a reason why. I don't believe they are willing to take on the difficult work of protecting the most vulnerable in our profession. Focusing locally makes more sense.

Recently had a friend ask "do you think it's weird that you talk about being broke a lot to people that currently make less money than you?" and we had a really productive conversation about how growing up poor warps your brain.

I will never not be poor in my mind. Because I know that whatever money & comfort I have acquired can disappear instantly, particularly in a capitalist system. And the hardest thing to spend money on? Myself. Donate to an abortion fund? Immediately, yes. Buy myself anything? Nope

No matter how much money I have now (trust me, not a lot) I cannot act like I have it. I have to plan for everything to go wrong at any moment. I have to ask whether I deserve a new phone or to replace the brake pads on my car. And then I feel bad when I spend the money on it.
