In the name of Allah SWT, the most Beneficent, the most Compassionate. On September 5, 2025, I announced that we had deployed twenty street lights at Murtala Crescent in Sabon Kawo to Rafin Guza Dam. I then stated that my team had informed that me we had officially crossed 1,500 solar street lights in our constituency since we got elected. I then assured the people of Kaduna North of our hope to receive 500 more street lights in the next few months. I am pleased to announce that we received a total of 90 solar street lights. We expected 110 solar street lights and have been assured that the remain 20 will by the end of the week. The deployment of the 90 started yesterday. The beneficiary wards will be Kawo Ward, Shaba Ward, Unguwar Rimi/Gabasawa Ward. I will be announcing the composition of the ad hoc committees supervising the work and the specific streets and locations. The entire initiative is being supervised by my Principal Secretary, the ever reliable Al Amin Yakubu. Thank you.

Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s Independence Speech (October 1, 1960) at the Race Course (now Tafawa Balewa Square), Lagos.
“Today is Independence Day. The first of October 1960 is a date to which for two years every Nigerian has been eagerly looking forward. At last, our great day has arrived, and Nigeria is now indeed an independent sovereign nation.
At this time, when our constitutional development has brought us to independence, it is with heartfelt joy that I call upon you all to join together in thanksgiving to the Almighty God, who has spared us and kept us alive to see this glorious day.
The great day has come, and we are privileged to be the citizens of an independent Nigeria. I am fully aware of the solemnity of this occasion, and of the great responsibilities which independence has placed upon us all. It is a challenge to which we must all measure up. It is a call to nationhood and to service.
This is the culmination of a process which has been conducted in peace and order. Without bitterness, without bloodshed, without violence, Nigeria has attained her freedom and sovereignty. This fact is a great testimony to the maturity of our people, and the determination of our leaders.
As a nation, we are prepared to co-operate with all others, both within the Commonwealth and outside. We will not forget our old friends, and we are proud to carry on the traditions of friendship with Great Britain and the other members of the Commonwealth. But, nevertheless, we are also prepared to make new friends in the wider circle of the world.
We are grateful to the British officers who have worked faithfully and impartially for this country, and who now are leaving, some to retire and some to continue their service elsewhere. We wish them well and, wherever they go, they will always be remembered by us.
And now, finally, I wish to say that Nigeria is ready to lay her wealth, her resources, and her manpower in the service of Africa and the world. The world has no reason to fear, for we shall never impose ourselves upon any nation. Our policy is one of peace and friendship with all nations, founded on the principles of the United Nations Charter.
I now ask you all to rise and join me in saluting our flag – the symbol of a sovereign independent Nigeria.”
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
On his way back from Katsina, a remarkable act of kindness has happened. As school children were being dismissed from school, HE the Governor of kano state, personally stepped out of his vehicle to make sure the pupils had safely crossed the road.
Yesterday, former Niger State Governor, Chief Servant Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, OON, CON, Talban Minna, Sardaunan Hausa, along with Niger State Governor Umar Mohammad Bago,
‘The most important condition for a leader is that he should appoint for the care of state affairs such persons who have seriousness, truth and honesty. The appointment should be based on piety not on emotion. The basis of government and the fundamental prerequisite for any office is not to appoint a person who seeks and covets the appointment. Al-Bukhāri told in his Sahih on the authority of Abū Mūsā al- Ash ari that he (Abū Mūsa) said ’’I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and give him peace, with a man. When we saluted him my friend said: O Messenger of Allah appoint me to an office. Whereupon the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and give him peace, said: ‘’We do not appoint for our offices those who seek them.’’
I also visited the family home of my elder brothers, Hon. Mohammed Ali (the candidate of the NNPP for the seat I temporary occupy during the 2023 elections), his elder brother Hon. Yusuf Ali and our very senior elder brother, Hon. Musa Kali, who serves as a Special Adviser on Special Duties to His Excellency Governor @UbaSaniUs. The aim of the visit was to condole them over the death of their father, Alhaji Aliyu Adamu while I was out of the country. Baba Aliyu was statesman of Kaduna State and we pray that Allah SWT elevates his soul to Aljannatul Firdausi. I personally extended my prayers to their mother who has been a backbone to many of us in Kaduna North over the loss. She remains a huge fan of my father, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and continues to pray for me. May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings and grant the family to bear such a momentous loss.
