Funny how a drug costing a few dollars here can cost thousands in the USA. Lenacapavir is $28,000 in the USA and $40 here. The US is the embodiment of how unregulated capitalism can crush a country.
Most Kenyan tech events are run by failed founders who realized it’s easier to sell tickets and recycle generic startup talk than to actually build. We don’t have a tech scene. We have a conference circuit.
The worst place someone can be adopted into is a christian household, the issue is not religion, in most cases the person do it purely for justification
@WangweAnn daaamn, sorry , I swear we opposite, wait, you guys actually went to tz, my company sent me to dar alone some months back, and i realised am just used to crowds manze, cool place though
For techies, Kenyan law is very much against us. I think you never realise this until you wanna do anything fintech related, chance, winning etc.
Like, I wanted to add "winning team gets paid" in my party game, and I realised that falls under gambling in Kenya. Commercial prize competition, and you need to prove a million bob in gambling capital before they licence you.
Another part, if you develop a platform to allow manufacturers to run a buy and win promotion, same thing. Same million bob.
Now, am using @intaSendHQ and even M-Pesa payments take 72 hours to clear before I can touch the money. They say it's a compliance requirement.
You never feel any of this until you try to ship.
