2020- Nvidia launched RTX 30 Series but due to limited stock and GPU mining, it caused a worldwide shortage of GPUs, scalpers bought all the stock during this period and sold them for a huge profit
By late 2022 - Prices of GPUs started to drop, slowly approaching MSRP but Nvidia already released GPUs with inflated prices, RTX 4080 costed 1199$ MSRP (1.72X higher than RTX 3080 MSRP)
2025 - Nvidia and AMD released new GPUs, however stock was almost non-existent in the first few months, making the new term "Fake MSRP"
Late 2025 - As soon as prices started to return to normal, AI data centers started eating up all the memory causing RAM prices to skyrocket and Storage prices to rise significantly
Beginning of 2026 - Nvidia is rumored to cut production of RTX GPUs by 30-40% and Micron warns that memory shortage will 'persist' beyond 2026
