Cardinal Dolan says he spent the past week studying Charlie Kirk’s life, and the more he learned, the more he saw him as a modern-day Saint Paul.
A fearless missionary, a passionate evangelist, and a true hero.
“When I heard the tragic news, I said, ‘I wonder who he was.’ And then all of a sudden, this overwhelming, this overwhelming sense of sorrow and kind of renewal.”
“And I thought, I gotta learn about this guy. And the more I learned about him, I thought, this guy's a modern day Saint Paul. He was a missionary, he's an evangelist, he's a hero.”
“He's one that knew what Jesus meant when he said, the truth will set you free. And to do it, Now, I understand he was pretty blunt and he was pretty direct. He didn't try to avoid any controversy. He didn't even try to avoid confrontation. The difference is the way, the mode, the style that he did it, always with respect.”
I’m temporarily burying my personal hatchet with everybody who pushes votes towards the Republican Party.
We can beef about marriage, ethics, foreign wars etc AFTER the dems lose the mid terms.
Criticising me helps nobody, I push young men towards nationalism. Me criticising you helps nobody, you bring in your voters your own way too.
As we argue they will shoot us all in the back of the head.
Disagree with me in PRIVATE only. Always ready, built different.
Let’s try to APPEAR unified at least for now.
DMs open.
Forgiveness ≠ Justice
Forgiveness is commanded of us as Christians. Christ on the Cross prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Forgiveness cleanses the soul of hatred, prevents the poison of resentment from taking root, and hands judgment over to God.
But forgiveness does not erase justice. Justice is not vengeance. Justice is order. It is the rightful response to evil that protects the innocent, vindicates the truth, and restrains further harm. Scripture tells us: “For he does not bear the sword in vain; he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.” (Romans 13:4)
To forgive is not to excuse. To forgive is not to abandon accountability. Forgiveness frees the heart; justice secures the common good. Forgiveness is personal; justice is societal. Forgiveness saves the soul of the victim; justice protects the souls of the people.
The assassin can be forgiven as a man, but must still face judgment as a murderer. Mercy may touch his soul, but justice must still fall upon his crime.
