Washington D.C.โs Metropolitan Police Dept is now referring media inquiries to the White House Press Office.
That is..... quite a change โฆ for a major American police force
After a number of setbacks in the courts, White House @PressSec Karoline Leavitt says many judges in this country are "acting erroneously" and they are clearly trying to "slow walk" the Trump administration's agenda.
Michelle Obama is like the Undertaker. She comes out for special appearances, reminds everyone of her awesomeness, brings the house down, and then peaces out to go live her best life.
"Mr. Trump, 78, has also shown signs of slipping over the years since he was first elected to the White House. He often confuses names and details and makes statements that are incoherent. He maintains a lighter public schedule than Mr. Biden, does not exercise and repeatedly appeared to fall asleep in the middle of his recent hush money trial. His campaign has released only a three-paragraph health summary." https://t.co/ATDqjaXJmn
Having just returned from Germany, I can tell you when people ask how Germans allow fascism to take over, let me tell you that it was all done โlegally.โ
Democracy in crisis is more important than poll numbers. We seem unable, even now, to shift news coverage consistently towards the unprecedented unrolling of democratic and constitutional norms and the impending cataclysm. We should be listening not to pundits but to scholars of authoritarianism, historians, journalists from other countries that have seen democracy erode. We must shed the hubris that tells us we know how to cover this because weโve covered politics before, and the belief that we must maintain old norms even in the face of an unparalleled moment in US history. Otherwise, we are not journalists but accomplices. The winners and losers here are not Democrats or Republicans, but democracy itself.
