I just need one trans activist to come out and be transparent and say:

- Nobody is saying that if Wemby decided to identify as female tomorrow he should be allowed to play in the W
- Trans children should be allowed to participate in youth sports and other activities in some manner but there needs to be some nuance around whether it is right for male-to-female trans kids to be playing in female-only sports leagues, many times that will be inappropriate.
- We understand what Sophie is saying but it is damaging to the trans community and XXXXX is why.

Just retweeting and calling her a bigot and homophobe for an opinion that 90% of America holds to some extent is doing nothing productive.

Yesterday I posted Darren Rovell’s explanation for the Caitlin Clark poster situation and gave him credit for digging into it.

I deleted it because I wasn’t comfortable repeating it without verifying it myself.

The publicly available 2026 WNBA CBA appears to contradict his explanation.

Article XXVI grants the WNBA, WNBA Enterprises, and its teams the right to use every player’s “Player Attributes” for group licensing and specifically authorizes the use of players in groups of three or more for league marketing, advertising, broadcasts, and promotional materials.

Unless there’s another provision in the separate License Agreement that changes those rights, the “they couldn’t use Caitlin because of licensing” explanation doesn’t appear to fit the CBA.

If there’s another document that changes this, let’s see it. Your move @darrenrovell.
