This morning, @LACProbation held the commencement ceremony for the Juvenile Corrections Officer Core Class 2024–06. Today, Fifteen graduates begin their careers as Officers, ready to serve with compassion, positively impact youth, and provide for safer communities.

Thanks to Los Angeles County Beaches & Harbors for inviting the young men from Camp Afflerbaugh to an Ocean Safety Day. Some of the young men had never been to a beach! They got to Kayak, surf, snorkel and learn about careers with B&H. @LACProbation @LACountyPOC @lacdbh #LAModel

Today, @lacprobation’s Barry J. Nidorf Secure Youth Treatment Facility & Los Angeles County Office of Education hosted its High School graduation for 14 young scholars. It was an afternoon to remember as these youth were celebrated. Congrats Graduates! We are so proud of you!

Today, Dorothy Kirby Center hosted a Jr & Sr Prom for 18 youth. The theme was “Night at the Oscars. The young people looked amazing in their after-five attire & their parents visited with them before the event. The most exciting part was the crowning of the DKC Prom King & Queen.

🎓✨ The Los Angeles County Office of Education & @LACProbation hosted Operation Graduation 2024! 🎓 29 young scholars from Camps Afflerbaugh, Paige, Dorothy Kirby Center, & Kilpatrick received their high school diplomas.

Today, 4 young adults from Campus Kilpatrick SYTF, received their AA degrees from Los Angeles Mission College. The graduates wore the traditional cap and gown and over 75 family and guests were in attendance to celebrate. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Today, youth from Dorothy Kirby Center & Camps Afflerbaugh, Paige, & Rockey participated in the 2024 Academic Bowl. This year's theme was “Peace & Unity.” Camp Paige placed 1st, Camp Afflerbaugh 2nd, Camp Rockey 3rd, & Dorothy Kirby Center 4th. Congrats to the young scholars!

Steve Filson shared the tragic story of how the fentanyl epidemic impacted his family with the young men at Barry J Nidorf Juvenile Hall. He works with Victims of Illicit Drugs (V.O.I.D), an organization that spreads awareness on the dangers of fentanyl @LACProbation @stoptheVOID

On Thursday, May 2nd, Barry J. Nidorf SYTF and the Michael’s Daughter Foundation presented a premier of animated short films created by youth from the facility. “Our Stories” featured films highlighting the talents of the BJN youth in animation, writing, and voice-overs.
